Helcim offers a competitive solution for high-volume businesses with its cost-effective card processing services, easy integration with inventory management, and transparent fee structure. Its comprehensive platform includes merchant accounts, credit card processing, POS software, payment gateways, invoicing, and business management tools. However, for businesses processing over $20,000 monthly, a wholesale subscription may be a better option, and for small transactions or low-volume sales, a flat fee service could be more economical. Although praised for its outstanding customer service and transparency, Helcim might not be the most affordable choice for low-volume businesses that may not require all its features. They do however offer volume discounts, so this may not necessarily be the case.

Helcim’s cost is based on an interchange-plus pricing structure with rates varying by transaction type and volume. For monthly card transactions up to $50,000, in-person transactions cost interchange plus 0.4% and 8 cents each, online and manually keyed transactions cost interchange plus 0.5% and 25 cents each, and ACH payments cost 0.5% plus 25 cents, with a cap of $6 per transaction. Volume discounts are available. Hardware costs $109 for a mobile card reader and $349 for a standalone terminal. Helcim stands out for its lack of many typical merchant service fees, only charging $5 for returned ACH/EFT transactions and $15 for chargebacks (reimbursable if the dispute is won). No fee is levied for PCI compliance. Helcim’s transparent pricing model, available on their website, caters well to a variety of businesses.

The Helcim Fee Saver feature allows merchants to transfer their credit card processing fees to clients or customers instead to save more.

It offers online transaction features and integrates with popular platforms like QuickBooks, WooCommerce and Xero. The equipment orderings is described in the second phase of the set-up process, and prices cover shipping, round-the-clock tech support, and a limited one-year warranty on the Helcim Smart Terminal.

Setup of the POS Software

Setting up a Helcim account was very simple and required the input of my business and personal information in order to get started. I didn’t experience any difficulties and was very quickly brought to the Helcim dashboard where I could easily navigate features.

Experiencing the customer service was remarkably efficient, with virtually no delay when contacting their support line, accompanied by the cordial and proficient demeanor of the representative. Upon registering with the service, a warm welcome email was immediately received, along with the offer of additional support and training. The email support was prompt, responding within a single business day. Furthermore, the service’s learning center is user-friendly, rich with easy-to-understand tutorials and articles, making the learning journey enjoyable and straightforward.
