Plans & Pricing
Vend has multiple pricing tiers which are divided based on features and business turnover. Each plan comes with 24/7 support, secure cloud backups, integrated payments, and unlimited products.
Lite
The Vend entry level plan costs $119/month ($99/month when billed annually). It has an allowance for one retail outlet and is limited to $20,000 monthly turnover. If you exceed the turnover three times in a 12 month period then you’ll be required to upgrade to the pro plan. It also has real-time inventory management, small business reporting, and a Xero accounting add-on.
Pro
The Pro plan costs $159/m ($129/month when billed annually). It comes with all the features of the Lite plan and builds upon it with multi-location management, API access, and all add-ons. The turnover limits are also removed.
Enterprise
The Enterprise plan doesn’t have a set cost because it’s tailored to your needs. It comes with all the features of the pro plan and further expands the support for multiple locations. Customers are paired with a dedicated account manager and customized on boarding.
Vend is priced closely to other competitors on the market. When you consider the range of features and the intuitive interface, it becomes more attractive. As an added plus, you’re able to try the software platform for free before committing.
Overview
Vend is a New Zealand based retail POS founded in 2010 by Vaughan Rowsell and has grown to serve over 20,000 small and medium businesses. It merges simplicity and advanced features which makes it ideal for retail brands who want to focus on their core competency instead of mastering new software.
Features and Functionality
Vend has many features tailored to retail stores. You can integrate with most popular payment processors, such as PayPal, and take advantage of mobile POS terminals. Vend supports custom payment types, split payments, and deep reporting to give you a clear overview of your business health. Finally, it has advanced uncommon features such as layaway and on-account payments.
CRM
Vend comes complete with a customer relationship management solution. Add new customers at checkout or upload a list of current customers to get a clear picture of the number of visits, lifetime spend, and account balance.
You can segment customers in your database and reward the most loyal ones, or issue store credit on refunds. Finally, easily export all your customers and upload them to your email marketing tools to send targeted messages.
Inventory management
Proper inventory management can make or break a retail store. Vend gives retailers all the tools they need. Create, import, and print bar codes and labels, create or duplicate product variants with a click, and set custom reorder levels so you’ll always be on top of your inventory.
Deep reporting features
Vend reporting is customizable so you can see the information you care about at a glance. You can then drill down to identify opportunities or problems in your business. Use this information to find your best customers, product lines, or product line seasonality.
Hardware Requirements
Vend is compatible with many systems, so your current setup may be all you need to get up and running. If not, you can choose from its PC, Mac, or iPad bundle which can be purchased through POS Portal. It comes with a cash drawer, scanner, and receipt printer. There are also optional pieces of equipment such as counter top stands and label printers.
Integrations & Add-ons
Vend doesn’t integrate with many other tools but it has carefully selected the partners it works with. You can connect with accounting tools like Xero and Quickbooks. Extend the platform with employee scheduling tools like Deputy, ecommerce integrations with Shopify, and multi-channel management tools like Stitch Labs. For the most part, Vend is a self-contained solution so the need for integrations is minimal, but if you want Vend to be an all in one business management solution, the integrations are a must.
Ease of Use
Vend has a modern interface that makes it easy to set up and use the software. Whether this is your first POS system or one of many you’ve used, you’ll feel right at home within a few hours. Many users find the interface is easy to learn and use daily.
Customer Support
Vend offers support across many channels to meet the needs of its large customer base and if you’d like help getting set up, it offers onboarding services. The support team is knowledgeable and responsive.

In addition to the basic features you’d expect, it also handles customer relationship management, customer credit, and gift cards. One of the challenges with Vend is the limited choice of compatible hardware to set up your POS terminal and limited payment processors.
Taken together, it’s a feature rich and intuitive platform to handle your POS needs. On top of that, it has responsive customer support that’s available 24/7 to help you tackle any problem that may arise.
