Plans & Pricing
Clover has two POS plans. These are the ‘Register Lite, ‘Register,’ ‘Payment Plus,’ ‘Counter Service Restaurant,’ and ‘Table Service Restaurant.’ They give a free 30-day trial for all plans, and as of this review, there’s a 30-day trial offer for the Register Lite plan.
Register Lite
Businesses pay a monthly fee of $9.95 per month for the ‘Register Lite’ and 2.9% plus 30¢ per keyed-in transaction. The Register Lite only includes a virtual terminal, but you can purchase hardware in the future if needed.
Register
With the ‘Register’ plan, you pay a monthly fee of $49.90, and 3.5% plus 15¢ for keyed-in transactions. There’s also a 2.5% plus 10¢ charge for in-person purchases. You’ll also pay $9.95 per additional device.
Payment Plus
Clover Payment Plus comes with basic features. It’s great if you don’t need advanced things like inventory tracking or any particular third-party apps. The investment is $4.95 per month, and transaction fees are the same as the Register plan.
Counter Service Restaurant
This plan is ideal for quick service businesses or restaurants since it’s designed for speed. It costs $39.95 per month for the first device and $9.95 per additional system. Transaction fees are the same as the Register plan.
Table Service Restaurant
With the Table Service Restaurant plan, you get everything available with other plans and more. This plan is great for established businesses in the food industry and costs $69.95 per month plus $9.95 for each additional device. Transaction fees are the same as other plans, except Register Lite.
Overall, Clover’s software price is affordable for the value.
Overview
Clover entered the POS market in 2012 and has since grown to become one of the most used cloud-based POS. The system is suitable for many types of retailers and restaurants, including cafes, bars, quick service, and others. While Clover POS is web-based, the company offers server-based deployment.
Features and Functionality
Clover POS comes with various customizable built-in features, such as inventory management, reporting, virtual terminal, online ordering, and employee management, among others. The POS has all the must-have features of a reliable system and more, making it ideal for many business models. Also, Clover is user-friendly, and since it’s cloud-based, you can manage your company(s) from any device.
Inventory Management
Clover makes inventory management a breeze. You can add items individually, by scanning merchandise barcode labels or importing inventory via spreadsheets. Editing a product’s information is simple, and Clover automatically monitors performance.
Reporting
The POS software has built-in reporting for real-time actionable business insights. Businesses can track key metrics and identify trends that may help them boost revenue. The best part is that you can access reports anywhere, anytime with a compatible Internet-enabled device.
Virtual Terminal
The virtual terminal lets you process transactions online. That means you don’t have to be at your terminal to make sales. For example, you can log in to your dashboard from a smartphone to accept payments or process refunds.
Online Ordering
With Clover’s online ordering feature, you can digitize your menu and start receiving, including processing orders from the company website. The POS system integrates with your site and syncs inventory to avoid stock issues. Clover gives you full menu control.
Employee Management
Clover helps you manage and support employees – your most essential resources. With employee features, you can incentivize people, measure individual performance, and control access or permissions. Also, scheduling, clock in or out, tip management, commission distribution, and more are supported.
Hardware Requirements
Clover provides its own POS hardware. The company offers five hardware packages to go with the monthly software fee. These are Station, Mini, Flex, Go, and Station Pro. However, the POS software can launch from any device, such as a Mac, Windows, Android, and iOS.
Most businesses will need a hardware package to get started with Clover. However, you don’t require hardware if all that’s needed is a virtual terminal for processing transactions. Clover also supports several accessories for customizing your POS system. Things like a kitchen printer, weight scale, barcode scanner, printer paper, and so on.
Integrations & Add-ons
The POS system’s capabilities can be extended using integrations. That means you can customize the software’s functionality to your liking. You’ll find plenty of integrations at the Clover App Market. Applications like Homebase’s Time Clock, Gusto, Qualia, QuickBooks, Digital Loyalty, Jazz HR, and DAVO, among others, can be acquired. Some integrations are free, but you’ll need a subscription for others.
Ease of Use
Clover POS comes with a sleek, intuitive interface that makes it easy to set up and learn. The POS software has several built-in apps that are specific for handling particular needs. These apps separate Clover’s different functions, so you can find the things you need quickly, keeping everything simple.
Customer Support
Many customers report receiving excellent and responsive support from the Clover team. Some are unsatisfied with customer support. However, Clover does provide clear setup instructions and other support documentation on its website – you’ll need your merchant ID to receive support.

It’s incredible and provides various insights for making informed decisions. Clover practically has everything that businesses need to operate and grow.
However, while the software investment is low, hardware and integration costs can add up depending on your business needs. That’s because you have to use the vendor’s equipment, and integrations require additional investments. All in all, Clover is a great customizable choice for retailers and restaurants, plus it can support other business models. They also give customers a 30 or 90-day trial depending on the chosen plan.
