Plans & Pricing
SumUp has three plan options for businesses to choose from, starting from $99-$289/month. On a positive note, the plans offer a lot of the same features. SumUp offers a 30-day free trial. New users are not required to have a demo, but it is the best way to get the right product to match the business needs.
SumUp POS has quite a lot of appeal as you get the easy option of one fee per transaction with any type of card. There are no monthly costs and a 2.60% + 10 cents charge per transaction.
Overview
SumUp offers point-of-sale hardware and software for companies to use and accept all payment methods. SumUp’s POS system can accept chip, whip, and contactless forms of payment. It gives users a simple, low-cost way to accept card payments. SumUp’s mobile POS systems are ideal for merchants who need an easy way to process payments on the go. The hardware, which is available in several options and prices, connects to the SumUp mobile app via Bluetooth.
Features and Functionality
POS Features
The SumUp POS is a feature-rich platform that’s easy to use and designed to streamline your business operations. It offers seamless payment processing, comprehensive product inventory, and modifier management to adjust product details in real time.
Checkout Options
The checkout screen in the app shows the product layout, categories, and a left-hand view of the current, itemized bill. You’ll need to edit the product screen in the Dashboard, not the app. % discounts, allergens, customer details, and whether the order is for eat-in or takeaway (if selling food) can be indicated. Orders can be saved, voided, registered as “no sale,” marked as waste or petty cash. An item not already in the library is easily added at checkout with a custom description option and VAT.
Inventory Management
Basic product management capabilities are included, such as stock levels, low-stock notifications, supplier lists, bulk product import, and a detailed items library. Each product can be attached to a category and have variants, attributes (added layer of variants), modifiers, tags, SKUs, VAT rates, images, and more. After products are added to your account, it’s time to add them to the till interface through the drag-and-drop “Selling Layouts” in the dashboard.
Reporting and Analytics
Sumup offers in-depth POS reporting so you can monitor your sales and profits through intuitive reports and dynamic dashboards. These give you insights into various aspects of your business, including inventory management, top-selling products, staff performance, tax obligations, and more. The analytics features help you make data-driven inventory and product allocation decisions.
Customers and Loyalty
The core system allows you to add customers with contact details to a list, divisible into customer groups. If you already have a spreadsheet of people, this can be uploaded into the system to save time. SumUp recently added points-based loyalty programs to the core features, which work in conjunction with the customer directory.
Hardware Requirements
Software
Adding further weight to the potential of SumUp is the app and POS Hardware combination that gives you a physical device for processing payments.
Hardware
SumUp POS runs on the SumUp register paired with a customer-facing screen for rewards redemption and accepting payment, including contactless chip & PIN, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. In addition to the register and customer-facing screen, you can also purchase compatible receipt printers, cash drawers, and other accessories as needed for your business.
Ease of Use
Overall Experience
SumUp POS performs well and functions as expected. The SumUp software and hardware that are provided to users make for smooth operations.
Use Cases
It’s pretty simple to utilize the software and its functions. Most operations are step-by-step and don’t take very long to process.
Dashboard
Your Dashboard gives you a useful analysis of all your transactions. You can set a timeframe in the upper right-hand corner and SumUp automatically begins to analyze your sales for the set dates. You can access total sales revenue, graphic representation, distribution of transactions, highest/lowest sales revenue, detailed transaction history, export your data, check payout date, and latest payout all from your dashboard.
Customer Support
SumUp has a couple different ways of reaching out to their customer service team. You can call the phone support number during their business hours or you can send an email to support. SumUp doesnt have alot of support options and it’s not as easy to reach a real person in customer support.
Final Word
The SumUp POS solution is a good supplement to the other products and services. If you’re a smaller business looking for a quick and easy payment processing solution then SumUp and the associated POS hardware are a great way to turn your venture into a much more versatile operation. I wasn’t satisfied with how poor the customer service department operates, however, SumUp overall is a good option for a POS solution.
